Strategy Statement

"Chinese consumer demand is growing and trade is flourishing in Hong Kong. We will continue applying our bottom-up, long-term, value-oriented strategy to find bargain companies in this dynamic region."

Strategy, Benefits, Results

Our strategy is built upon the following Templeton cornerstones, which have been in place for over half a century.

  • Search Globally. We believe bargains have no borders when searching for the best investment opportunities.
  • Seek Value. We search worldwide for stocks selling at prices we believe are low relative to their true value.
  • Perform Fundamental, Bottom-Up Research. We conduct in-person visits and perform extensive fundamental research to model a company's potential future earnings, cash flow and asset value relative to its stock price.
  • Practice Patient, Long-Term Investing. We evaluate a company's potential for earnings and growth over a five-year horizon.

  • China Exposure. Our investment mix is designed to take advantage of dynamic growth opportunities in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
  • Unparalleled Emerging Markets Experience. Investors can benefit from lead manager Dr. Mark Mobius, a trailblazer in emerging markets investing with over 30 years of investing experience.

Investing In The Fund

What Are the Risks?
  • All investments involve risks, including possible loss of principal.
  • The Chinese government’s participation in its economy remains high and, therefore, Templeton China World Fund’s investments in China will be subject to larger regulatory risk levels compared to many other countries.
  • Risks associated with international investing include currency fluctuations, economic instability and political developments; emerging markets involve heightened risks related to these same factors.
  • A non-diversified fund involves the risk of greater price fluctuation than a more diversified portfolio. The fund invests in Chinese companies and investments may be made in a relatively small number of issuers and, as a result, be subject to a greater risk of loss with respect to its portfolio securities.
  • The fund may experience greater volatility than a fund that is more broadly diversified geographically.
  • Historically, smaller and mid-sized securities have experienced more price volatility than larger company stocks, especially over the short term.
  • The fund is designed for the aggressive portion of a well-diversified portfolio.
  • These and other risks are described more fully in the fund’s prospectus.
