Templeton Global Income Fund, Inc. ("GIM") Announces Dividend

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, August 2, 2002 -- Templeton Global Income Fund, Inc. (NYSE: GIM) today announced its monthly dividend from net investment income of $0.045 per share, payable on August 30, 2002 to shareholders of record on August 16, 2002 (Ex-Dividend Date: August 14, 2002).
The Fund said that in order to preserve its policy of maintaining a stable monthly dividend, current dividends being paid by the Fund may be in excess of the Fund's current investment company taxable income which includes current estimated currency gains and losses. Accordingly, the Fund may declare a return of capital for its current fiscal year. The Board of Directors reviews the level of monthly dividends on a continuing basis at its regularly scheduled board meetings, with the next review to take place at the meeting to be held in October 2002.
