Online Proxy FAQs

  • You may cast your vote using one of these four methods:

    • Online
      If you have a franklintempleton.com account, sign in and select “View Details” from the proxy banner. Select “Vote” next to each control number listed, and then follow the instructions on the website
    • By Telephone
      Call the number provided on your proxy card and then enter the control number listed and follow the recorded instructions
    • By Mail
      Complete and sign the proxy card and return it in the postage-paid envelope provided in the proxy package mailing
    • In Person
      Attend the shareholder meeting and cast your vote in person. Please refer to the proxy materials sent in the mail for the time and location of the upcoming shareholder meeting.1

    The proxy package describes the specific matters that are that require a shareholder vote. Please read the proxy statement prior to completing the proxy card.

    Please remember that since your voting instructions are processed in the order in which they are received, your last vote received will be the one that is counted.

    1. Due to the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) and to support the health and well-being of each fund’s shareholders, employees and community, proxy meetings are being conducted exclusively online via live webcast. For detailed meeting information, please refer to your proxy package.
  • The online proxy voting systems maintain a high level of security to ensure the confidentiality of your vote. These include the following:

    • Secure Socket Layer (SSL): encrypts information traveling between the web servers and the voting shareholder.
    • Control Number: each shareholder receives a personalized voting control number upon receipt of their proxy package. Third party solicitors verify these numbers and display the correct proxy information for the individual shareholder.
  • The deadline for voting is the date and time of the upcoming shareholder meeting. This is detailed in the proxy package you received in the mail. You may also cast your vote in person by attending the shareholder meeting.

  • Yes. Franklin Templeton contracts AST Fund Solutions, LLC, as the proxy solicitation firm that provides the voting services to shareholders of record.

    If they have not received your proxy card before the date of the shareholder meeting for your fund, a representative from the proxy solicitation firm may contact you by phone to remind you to exercise your right to vote.

    Yes. Legg Mason has contracted, Computershare Fund Services as the proxy solicitation firm that provides the voting services to shareholders of record.

  • If you vote online or by telephone, you should not return the signed proxy card. You should only vote using one method. The only reason for you to vote again would be to change your previous vote. Please remember that since your voting instructions are processed in the order in which they are received, your last vote received will be the one that counts. If we have not received your proxy card before the date of the shareholder meeting for your fund, a representative from our proxy solicitation firm may contact you to remind you to exercise your right to vote.

  • Shareholders of record at the close of business on the “Record Date” will be entitled to vote at the meeting or any adjourned meeting. The Notice of Meeting, the proxy card and the proxy statement were mailed to shareholders of record.

  • Yes. You may revoke your proxy at any time before it is voted:

    • By sending a written notice to the Fund expressly revoking your proxy.
    • By signing and forwarding to the Fund a later-dated proxy card that is received by the Fund at or prior to the Meeting.
    • By attending the Meeting and voting in person. Please remember that since your voting instructions are processed in the order in which they are received, your last vote received will be the one that counts.
