About Jonathan

Jonathan Curtis is an engineer turned innovation investor within Franklin Equity, a global investment platform focused on innovation and navigating complex, underappreciated change. Based in Silicon Valley, he co-manages the Franklin Technology Fund, a public and growth equity strategy.

Mr. Curtis brings over 30 years of experience across technology and investing, combining a strong technical foundation with deep fundamental equity expertise. He began his career as an engineer in the communications equipment industry before transitioning to investing. He joined Franklin Templeton in 2008 as an equity analyst covering IT hardware and communications equipment. Over time, he assumed broader leadership responsibilities, including serving as Director of Portfolio Management for the Franklin Equity Group and later as Chief Investment Officer. Following the formation of Franklin Equity, he returned to a dedicated investment role, where he is now focused on portfolio management and research.

Prior to Franklin Templeton, Mr. Curtis worked on the sell side covering the communications equipment sector. His early experience as a software and systems engineer continues to inform his evaluation of innovation-driven businesses.

Mr. Curtis holds an M.B.A. from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
