Kristopher (“Kris”) Smith is Chief Operating Officer at O’Shaughnessy Asset Management and head of Custom Client Portfolios. He is responsible for strategic planning as well as execution of key initiatives supporting the firm’s development and delivery of personalized portfolio solutions.

Kris joined Franklin Templeton when it acquired Legg Mason, where he was a managing director and held roles including Head of U.S. Alternative Distribution Strategies and Head of Strategic Ventures, focused on industry innovation, strategic investment opportunities and commercialization strategies for the firm’s digital distribution platforms.

Previously, Kris was Senior Vice President and Head of Strategic Initiatives at Wells Fargo Asset Management, where he provided leadership for M&A transactions, business planning and corporate governance functions, as well as new product initiatives. Prior to that he held roles in strategic planning, retail distribution and corporate finance in the asset management arm of Wachovia Corporation and predecessor organizations.

Kris is a graduate (magna cum laude) of North Carolina State University and received his MBA from Wake Forest University. He has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Society North Carolina.
